Ajmer: Designated special ST and SC court Thursday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for killing his wife.The court also imposed a penalty of Rs 20,000 on the man identified as Rizwan, resident of Allahabad for killing his wife Shahina. The court found that the accused harassed his wife for dowry and killed her.Govt prosecutor Pankaj Jain said that the case was based on a complaint dated April 27, 2021, lodged by Shahida, resident of West Bengal and mother of the victim, in Ganj police station.According to the complainant, her daughter Shahin was married to Rizwan and they had a 13-month-old daughter. Rizwan moved to Ajmer for work along with his wife. Shahida had also moved in with them.Shahida alleged that Rizwan harassed her daughter demanding dowry and on April 26, 2021, Rizwan had a fight with Shahin over the same. That day when Shahida returned from work, she found her daughter lying in a pool of blood inside the room. Though she was rushed to the hospital, the doctors declared her brought dead. Rizwan had fled the spot, with their daughter following the incident, Shahida said. Police arrested Rizwan on May 1, 2021, and submitted charge sheet against him in the court. The prosecution produced 13 witnesses, 47 documents and 11 articles in the matter and it was found that Rizwan had blood stains on his shirt when he came out of the house on the day of the incident, which was captured by the CCTV cameras in the area.
