KOCHI: Slain leader TP Chandrasekharan’s wife KK Rema came out with an emotional post through a social media post as UDF is heading towards a landslide victory. The post was made after CM Pinarayi Vijayan trailed in the first six rounds of the counting in Dharmadam constituency located in Kannur, a CPM fortress. The constituency was won by a margin of over 50,000 votes by Vijayan in the 2021 elections.“These six rounds are enough, Kerala! This is enough. Chandrasekharan has been able to witness the man who branded him a betrayer and called for his murder, standing naked in the scorching sun. Salutations to political Kerala,” she posted on Facebook.
TP Chandrasekharan was hacked to death on May 4, 2012. The election results have been announced on his death anniversary. He was so brutally hacked that his face got mangled, and TP died on the spot, suffering over 51 deep cuts. The TP murder remains one of the most chilling political killings of Kerala, in which several CPM activists were later convicted.It was in 2008 that TP Chandrasekharan, a CPM strongman then, floated the Revolutionary Marxist Party in Onchiam, a Left fortress. The influence of RMP, the new party, was so strong that LDF has never been able to win the Vadakara Lok Sabha seat ever since its launch.Later, in the local body elections in 2010, CPM got rooted out in the panchayats of Onchiyam, Eranmala and Azhiyur. Defeats like these in the red soil of Vadakara were definitely a hefty blow for the CPM.At the same time, Chandrasekharan was also a staunch supporter of VS Achuthanandan, former Chief Minister of Kerala, who was then constantly locking horns with the official leadership of the CPM led by now CM Vijayan.
