ITBP officer cremated with full honours in Jaisalmer

Jaisalmer: ITBP assistant commandant Raghunath Singh Bhati, a native of Adbala village in Jaisalmer, was cremated with full military honours Thursday after he succumbed to injuries sustained in a road accident during election duty in West Bengal.Bhati died on April 29 at a military hospital in Delhi, where he had been undergoing treatment since the April 13 accident that occurred while he was returning after completing election duty.His mortal remains were airlifted to Phalodi airbase and then taken by road via Pokaran and other towns to his native village, where a large number of people gathered to pay their last respects.ITBP jawans rendered a guard of honour, and the body, draped in the tricolour, was taken in a procession for the final rites. Villagers showered flowers and raised slogans in his honour along the route.His sons performed the last rites in the presence of family members, public representatives and officials.Bhati had been posted in Delhi and was recently deployed for election duty in West Bengal. His vehicle met with an accident while returning with colleagues, in which he suffered a fracture in his leg and sustained serious internal injuries.
