RajHealth portal flags 678 doctors missing from duty for years
The new system helped identify nearly 678 doctors who were missing from duty

Jaipur: The state health department has initiated action against 678 doctors found absent from duty for years — in some cases for over two decades — after irregularities surfaced through the newly launched RajHealth portal.Officials said the digital platform has emerged as a major monitoring tool for tracking doctors, health workers and hospital facilities across Rajasthan, exposing long-undetected cases that remained buried in the earlier paper-based administrative system.“In several cases, doctors had stopped reporting at rural health centres years ago but continued to exist in official records,” a senior health department official said. He added, “The portal has enabled authorities to identify such prolonged unauthorised absences quickly.”Developed as an integrated Human Resource Management System for the department of medical, health and family welfare, RajHealth creates a centralised digital profile for every doctor and health worker. The platform records qualifications, postings, transfer history, service details, academic credentials, and employment status in a single verified database.Earlier, service records were scattered across district offices, hospitals and physical files, making verification difficult and delaying action for years. Officials said the new system allows authorities to detect inactive staff without relying on lengthy manual audits or district-level correspondence. The department said the portal’s biggest advantage lies in linking verified employee data with administrative processes. Once a doctor’s digital record reflects prolonged unauthorised absence, the post can be flagged for further action, including declaring it vacant and filling it with an active doctor.Officials said the system is expected to improve accountability, provide a real-time assessment of manpower across the state, and help the department take faster decisions on staffing gaps, transfers and vacancies.
