Kota: A two-year-old girl was mauled to death by stray dogs in Jhalawar district Friday, sparking panic and anger among residents over the growing stray animal menace.The incident occurred around 5am when the child, identified as Gauri, was sleeping with her father, Rajulal, and elder sister under a makeshift tent near Bhatia Showroom in Jhalawar city.Police said a pack of around eight stray dogs allegedly lifted the child and dragged her nearly 50 metres away before attacking her. Her father, Rajulal, woke up after one of the dogs bit his finger and rushed to the spot, but the girl had already suffered fatal injuries. He took the child to SRG Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.Rajulal, a daily wage labourer from Baran district, had come to Jhalawar for his wife’s delivery. His wife is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital after giving birth five days ago.DSP Harshraj Singh confirmed the incident. He said the family declined a postmortem and took the body for burial. They later submitted a memorandum seeking compensation.District officials said the administration has directed the municipal council to take preventive measures and submit a report. A proposal has also been sent to the state government for compensation as per norms.
